Dr. Robert D. White, MD
is a member of Pediatrix Medical Group and a Director of the Regional Newborn Program at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Indiana.  He has had a long-standing interest in the effect of the NICU environment on babies, families, and caregivers leading to several publications on that topic, and is chairman of the Consensus Committee that develops Recommended Standards for Newborn ICU Design.  He is also co-chair of the annual Gravens Conference on the Physical and Developmental Environment of the High-Risk Newborn, the International Conference on Brain Monitoring and Neuroprotection in the Newborn, and the annual workshop of the Perinatal Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  He has appointments at the University of Notre Dame, the Indiana University School of Medicine, and courtesy appointments at the University of Chicago and the University of South Florida.

Dr. White is a member of the Healthcare Guidelines Revision Committee, the American Academy of Pediatrics representative to the AAMI Committee on Incubators, and the US representative to the International Electrotechnical Equipment Working Group for Paediatric Equipment.

Dr. Josep Figueras-Aloy, MD, PhD

Josep Figueras-Aloy, MD, PhD, received his Medical Degree in 1973, his Title in Pediatrics in 1975 and defended his doctoral thesis in 1976, all of them in the University of Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Figueras became Titular Professor in pediatrics in 1982 and Full Professor in 2008. He has been involved in perinatal care since 1977, focusing his practice on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Figueras has been Head of the Intensive Care Unit of Hospital Clinic, Institut Clinic de Ginecologia, Obstetricia i Neonatologia in Barcelona since 1988 and Head of the Neonatology Service since 2007. He has held the position of Senior Consultant of Hospital Clinic since 2001. He is a Member of the Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) in Barcelona, Spain. Dr.Figueras has been awarded 28 grants for research and has directed 20 doctoral theses. He is coauthor of 5 books and 83 chapters and he has participated in 222 courses and has been invited to give 100 lectures. Dr.Figueras is author of national (273) and international (65) publications related specially to neonatal problems. Dr.Figueras has presented 240 abstracts in national medical meetings and 79 in international congresses.

Dr. Karel Allegaert, MD, PhD
graduated from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven as medical doctor (1994), with a subsequent training in Pediatrics/Neonatology (2001) and Clinical Pharmacology (2005). Following the presentation of his PhD defence (neonatal analgesia: towards an integrated approach), he further combined clinical care as a consultant of the neonatal intensive care unit, University Hospitals Leuven with clinical research with specific emphasis on perinatal clinical pharmacology (special populations, including preterm neonates and pregnancy). He was appointed as associated professor of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 2005, and subsequently further developed these research activities, currently reflected in about 200 publications in national and international journals, conference proceedings and chapters in book. His clinical research has (FWO clinical doctoral grant) and still is supported by a Fundamental Clinical Investigatorship (2009-2013) of the FWO Vlaanderen. This research also resulted in several awards of the Belgian Academy of Medicine and Sciences (Govaerts award for Clinical Toxicology 2006-2008, and Heymans Award Clinical Pharmacology 2002-2004), the Belgian Pain Society (2005),and the Galenus price, clinical research pharmacology, Belgium (2009).
